The Pinellas Education Foundation has been leading the charge to address the gender achievement gap since 2013. Through the Closing the Gap initiative, teachers received instructional strategies and school-wide grants to close the gap for boys in literacy achievement, where sometimes the gap between boys and girls exceeds 10%. Research shows that boys are increasingly falling behind their female counterparts in English Language Arts, and boys are disproportionately receiving more behavioral referrals.
The Pinellas Education Foundation and Pinellas County Schools invite you to attend the Closing the Gap Virtual Showcase on Thursday, May 27 at 3:30 p.m. Join us as we explore the best practices and strategies used by our ten pilot elementary schools working to narrow the gender achievement gap between boys and girls this school year.
