(Press Release) Largo, FLA — August 21, 2024 — Pinellas Education Foundation and Pinellas County schools proudly announce the Bob and Joanne McIntyre Center at Pinellas Education Foundation, in recognition of Bob and Joanne McIntyre’s lifetime commitment to public education. For nearly 30 years, the McIntyre’s played an active role in the community, generously donating time and resources to increase student achievement.
Bob McIntyre, founder of the Largo-based company DITEK, has been a pillar of the Pinellas County community and an advocate for high-quality education. Since joining Pinellas Education Foundation’s Board of Directors in 1995, Bob and his late wife Joanne dedicated time, resources, and passion to initiatives that enhance educational outcomes.
Bob generously established a $1 million endowment at the Foundation honoring Joanne, to ensure every student can reach their full potential and is prepared for life after high school.
“Bob and Joanne have always been passionate supporters of Pinellas Education Foundation. Their work has impacted countless children in our community,” said Kim Jowell, CEO of the Education Foundation. “Their commitment extends beyond financial support— Bob continues to be a true advocate who understands that investing in education is investing in our community’s future. Joanne’s legacy, alongside Bob’s ongoing dedication, will create opportunities that will change the trajectory of students’ lives for years to come. The Bob and Joanne McIntyre Center will stand as a lasting tribute to their generosity.”
The honor comes at a time when Pinellas County Schools has achieved a historic milestone: being awarded an “A” grade by the Florida Department of Education for the first time in its history. This remarkable achievement reflects the district’s dedication to excellence, driven in part by the robust community support led by advocates like Bob and Joanne. Without the backing of dedicated community members, such success would not be possible.
“For decades, Bob and Joanne McIntyre have been champions of education in Pinellas County Schools. Their dedication and generosity to the Pinellas Education Foundation have shaped brighter futures for countless students,” said Mr. Kevin Hendrick, Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools. “They exemplify how individuals can change a community and ignite positive change. The Bob and Joanne McIntyre Center at Pinellas Education Foundation honors their lasting impact.”
