(April 16, 2021) Multiple Tampa Bay education organizations have received grants to boost their STEM programming as part of a statewide effort.
Duke Energy is investing $653,000 across 23 grants to strengthen educational programs focused on science, technology, engineering and math. The grants will also go toward raising awareness of diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
“Building a brighter future begins with providing students with the best education and opportunities for success,” Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, said in a statement. “These grants are an investment in our communities and will strengthen and support those who are educating our next generation.”
The Duke Energy Foundation has a history of supporting STEM initiatives, which have been emphasized in recent years to build a stronger workforce in the region. In 2018, the company announced it gave more than $1.5 million in grants to boost STEM programs. (Read more)
