Pinellas Education Foundation receives Ready for School Funding from Raymond James to Support New Algebra Initiative

For Immediate Release

(PRESS RELEASE) LARGO, FLA – January 14, 2025 –

Pinellas Education Foundation is thrilled to announce receiving a “Ready for School” grant from Raymond James, totaling $1,050,000. This generous funding will be distributed over three years, with $350,000 allocated annually.

The funding will support the new “Ready Set Algebra” initiative within Pinellas County Schools. Ready Set Algebra aims to increase the number and percentage of students who successfully complete Algebra 1 by the end of 9th grade.

Mastering algebra by 9th grade sets students on a path toward academic success, critical thinking, and readiness for future educational and career opportunities. It equips them with skills and knowledge applicable across various domains, both within and beyond the realm of mathematics. Ready Set Algebra takes a three-pronged approach to ensure students’ mathematics success through professional development for math teachers, math enrichment activities, and tutoring.

Raymond James is a longtime partner of Pinellas Education Foundation. Since the Foundation’s inception, Raymond James and the firm’s leadership have played a vital role in accelerating academic achievements for Pinellas County students. Their continued support empowers students to reach essential milestones for academic and lifelong success.

“We are incredibly grateful to Raymond James and are excited to strengthen our partnership with their investment into Ready Set Algebra,” said Kim Jowell, Chief Executive Officer of Pinellas Education Foundation. “Partnerships like this are essential to providing students with the additional support they need to achieve academic success. We deeply value their commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and their generous support.”

“The new Ready for School initiative by Raymond James will assist our students inside the classroom, outside the classroom and beyond, and it will also support our teacher’s professional development,” said Kevin Hendrick, Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools.
