Pinellas Education Foundation’s Student Achievement Committee recently visited Mildred Helms Elementary IB World School to see the Closing the Gap program in action. This program provides professional development for teachers and administrators, equipping them with research-based, gender-differentiated instructional strategies and tactics to close identified gaps. Over the past four years, the school has successfully closed the reading achievement gap between boys and girls in English Language Arts, helping earn them an A school rating in 2023-24! 🎉Principal Shannon Brennen shared the school’s journey with the program, highlighting the impactful strategies her team has implemented. This week, members of our Take Stock in Children (TSIC) team traveled to Tallahassee for Take Stock in Children’s Leadership Day at the Capitol!Our TSIC Director of Mentoring, Stacie Allen, had the opportunity to meet with State Representative Berny Jacques and Corey Recvlohe, Legislative Aide to State Representative Adam Anderson, to discuss the life-changing impact of mentorship in helping students achieve their dreams. Pinellas Education Foundation is excited to be in Tallahassee this week!
